Why are we organizing another Course on Multivariate Analysis and Chemometrics? Because this was suggested by some participants of the previous meetings, because we would like to present a different point of view with respect to the typical, great courses on the subject, because the first editions of The Course was a success. Moreover, taking into account that the school will be held just in parallel to the CMA4CH meeting, the participants will have the advantage of staying in a beautiful place, with qualified teachers at a really convenient price, as some of the cost can be folded on the two events.
Can you help us in disseminating information on the school? This is the mini-poster that you can hang in your bulletin board. Thanks for your great contribution.
We are looking for a new date and new place for Course and Meeting, se the news for more information. The date was confirmed in May 2020, Monday 25, Tuesday 26, Wednesday 27.
The course is mainly devoted to the neophytes of the matter even if the high level of teachers allows not only neophytes to gain benefits. Clearly, there is not an age limit to participate but the course organisation was mainly thought for young people, with reference to the registration price and the hotel accommodation (both on the program).
We recommend attendance to anyone who needs to process data from her/his research in the field of Cultural Heritage (relevant examples will be given during the course) and in the field of Environment.
Colleagues who are now ahead in their career have also realised that Multivariate Analysis is required to obtain pertinent and representative results. We find that many courses and schools are often too specialised or specific to certain software or a single method. Our course, instead, is conceived in a different way.
If you would like to know more about definitions of Chemometrics, about what Chemometry is and about the value(s) of well established data set, please use the previous links.
The course is an introduction to Multivariate Analysis; it will be held by three of the major chemometricians of the world. It is devoted to young people and neophytes and it will be similar to your idea of a University lesson, with presentations, queries, replies, examples and so on. For both the room dimension and the need to better supervise the students we limited the number participants to 15. The main arguments are:
The professors of the course are surely among the best you can get for a school on Multivariate Analysis. For the first teacher will be Riccardo Leardi, who is probably one of the most famous chemometricians with specialisation in experimental design and also a consultant for various International Companies. The second teacher will be Marco Calderisi, famous for his software/service company, for his participation in many projects with Universities, and for the number of schools and courses he organises all over the world. The third teacher present in this edition, 2020, is Barbara Giussani, often working as teacher for Camo software house (Unscrambler producer), author of many papers on the subject and expert for classification (author also of a famous paper that seem a bridge between Cultural Heritage and Environment).
The idea of establishing a course for young scientists and neophytes that precedes the Meeting would not have been feasible without the help of the chemometricians named above. They are highly qualified experts on International level, who honoured me with their friendship and to whom I asked for help in the realisation of the course (G. Visco).
I believe that no young person or neophyte could find a course of similar level at this price and in such a beautiful location.
The teachers of the course agree with the idea that, at least for a neophyte, it is better to use Free or Open Source software through which the students will be able, hopefully, to study the algorithms and the coding.Software
We strongly suggest the students to arrive with his/her notebook to better follow the exercitations. Best way is install the software from GruppoChemiometria.it in his/her windows PC.
We are looking for place for Course, near the Meeting. If possible we like to confirm the fee of previous edition, see the news for more information.
In previous editions of The Course we found that the "students" were all placed in important research groups and studies already taking place in their fields. Since the previous edition each student registered in the course has the option, free of charge, to present a Poster showing one of the works he/she has done in his research group.
The work presented must still follow all the procedures of the peer-review as standard presentations for the Meeting. The posters compete for prizes and participate in the subsequent publication in a scientific journal.
The organizing committee of the Meeting thanks the sponsor that provided the support for the establishment some prizes draw among all Course participants.
In previous editions we have established the following prizes (for 2020 ?)
Before dealing with registration, some rules for the frequency of the course are outlined:
To better present themselves is recommended to fill the web-form to request information, please select course on bottom left. Probably the teachers need other information before the Course to setup the programs.
Each registered participant is asked to provide certain information, such as that on the bottom of this page. If you have questions about the Course, do not hesitate to .
We obtained a special price for Course participants in some Hotel around the meeting location. Hotel booking is not mandatory, you are free to select any other hotel/hostel in every point of the city.
